I’ve always had an extraordinary fascination for beauty items. I always want to try new things and test out new colors, new formulas, new scents, etc… It’s the reason I don’t allow myself to go inside Ulta or Sephora… or Target for that matter. The only reason I’m safe at Meijer is because my husband usually grocery shops with me and keeps me all the way over on the other side of the store! I just can’t help it! I’ve always felt like I’ve had difficult skin, hair, nails – you name it! My skin is never perfect, my hair is always too flat or too dry dry, my nails – oh, my poor nails. And so, the beauty-product-fascination begins! I thought I’d show you the must-haves in my daily routine, and maybe get your recommendations for some things I’m missing?
Skin Care:

I have always been looking for the perfect facial soap, since I have really annoying combination skin. One day, someone suggested I use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean my skin – just a little dab on a cotton ball. So, I figured I’d give it a try. And the verdict? Ohmygoodness, I can’t even believe how great this works! I don’t think I will ever go back to soap… (until I find out this will give me cancer, because, you know, all the good things do…) (that was totally a joke, and I apologize if anyone took offense by it.)
I also cannot live without my Apricot facial scrub by St. Ives. What will I do if they ever stop making this stuff?? For make-up, I adore bareMinerals makeup by Bare Escentuals. I’ve heard that it doesn’t work for everyone, but I absolutely love it. It gives me great coverage without making my skin oily – which is the problem I have with most other makeup. And for lotion – I love the Gold Bond Ultimate soothing lotion with Chamomile. I have terrible allergies, so I have to use fragrance-free lotions. I adore this one and it works wonders on dry skin.
Hair Care:

For the last 5 years or so, I have been a loyal supporter of the following 2 products: Matrix Biolage Shampoo and Redken Butter Treat deep conditioner. Everyone has their own favorite shampoo, so I’m not going to preach about this one. But the Redken conditioner… go buy it now. I promise you won’t regret it. I actually buy it in bulk because I’m terrified of running out of it. I also love the BioSilk Silk Therapy to add shine – and it works on wet or dry hair! And also, bobby pins – seriously, who doesn’t love bobby pins?

And, just for fun, I thought I’d thrown in my favorite scents. I absolutely adore Burberry Summer. I wear it all year, for any occasion. I think it is an absolutely perfect, subtle, sexy scent. But, if I’m feeling a bit more risqué, I opt for Gucci’s Envy Me… let’s just say, my husband loves it! It’s one of those scents that catches people’s attention and lingers lightly after you’ve left. And who doesn’t love leaving a good impression?
So, what are your favorite beauty products? I’m looking for suggestions on facial moisturizers and mascara. And does anyone know of any magical products that can shrink pores?! I’ve been looking forever!!

TOTALLY addicted to the Redken butter treat!! SOOOO addicted. I use their smooth down line which is the same color bottle as the butter treat. Also buy in bulk!! I have found that the Maybelline: the COLOSSAL colum’ express mascara is wonderful. I use physicans formula or ELF line makeup for everything else. I just starting using Olay total effects blemish control is amazing. It keeps away fine lines and wrinkles gives light moisture but keeps me from breaking out. Witch hazel helps shrink pours and I like those self heating face masks by Bore or the CO Bigelo clay face mask from Bath and Body Works. The BEST moisturizer for my face EVER is the Pure Simplicity: Soy- sensitive skin calming face cream which is no longer sold at bath and body works but you can find online for about twenty bucks. It is very very light and is the only thing that doesnt make me break out. I also use the same lotion as you. I have the same issues with scents and sensitive skin and allergies. I use the Gold Bond Ultimate healing aloe formula but nearly the same.
I’ll have to try the alcohol, thats awesome.
The scent I like, GAP: Heaven it does smell heavenly, light and clean. For nails, Nail Tec formula 2 OR Sally Hanson No Chip 10 day nail color in clear. The ELF line has amazing nail polish that lasts FOREVER even in the ocean water or pool water!! like 2 weeks which is a LONG time without a chip!
The elf line is eyes, lips, face: http://www.eyeslipsface.com/ most all products one dollar. the concealer pencil is amazing bc the tea tree oil actually makes the blemish go away while hiding it at the same time, brilliant!!!
I used to absolutely love the St. Ives scrub and then I switched to Clinique 7-Day Scrub Cream…. and now I can never go back to St. Ives. But don’t switch if you like St. Ives – you can never go back!
I love Clean & Clear Gentle Cleanser for my face and have used it for the past 6 years.
I’ve never heard of the isopropyl alcohol thing… I might have to try it!
Ooh! I love Biolage so much. SO so much. The St. Ives is also amazing. This is a great list of products and I kind of want to buy some immediately.
best beauty tip is white teeth! I bleach them every night. Always ask your dentist for samples or you can check out FreeWhiteningGel.com – either way, bleach is better than Crest white strips
